Budget Cooking - Inexpensive Meal Ideas

Budget cooking can be difficult when you come home in the afternoons and wonder what you’re going to feed the family?

With a family of six, we feel that way all the time! There never seems to be enough time and there are constant interruptions on our attention. We are always trying to find quick, yet inexpensive, meals. And with our daughter’s medical condition, our meals have to fit within a fat and sugar content guideline.

So . . . take out pizza or fast food hamburgers are not options at our house. We do have our “cheat days”, but we have to be very good before and after those “cheat” moments.

Some meals are very quick and easy; others take a little preparation. I like to do as much preparation as possible on the weekends or the night before. But children of any age can certainly change the best plans! So be flexible and adapt to your situation.

Here are some inexpensive meal ideas. We’re trying to start with the quick and easy and we’ll keep adding, so please check back often. And we’d love to hear what has worked for you.

  • Egg Recipes If you are looking for egg recipes, look no farther! These inexpensive delicious recipes are real time savers. Everything from a microwaved omelet to egg salad and more!
